Open a finished model before you buy one

Three workbooks, built the way a client's would be, for companies that do not exist. Every number on these pages is the value the file computes, the formulas are the file's own, and each tie-out was broken on purpose to prove it goes red. Download the file and check it yourself.

Rep commission model

Commission accrued on the invoice date instead of the case date. Cases done in March and invoiced in May are a liability at 31 March, and an invoice-basis book does not carry them.

Case costing by CPT and payer

Revenue modeled as cases times an average rate. The same knee replacement pays $9,150 under one contract and $21,500 under another; an average puts money on Medicare cases that Medicare does not pay.

How to read them

Yellow is yours. Black is ours.

  • A yellow cell is an input. Type over it and the whole file moves. Every assumption sits on one Inputs sheet, labeled in English.
  • Black text is a live formula. Nothing on a calculation sheet is typed. Select any cell on these pages and the bar shows the formula.
  • The Checks sheet is the last one. Every row must read OK before a file leaves. A check that has never been seen to fail is not a check, so each one is broken on purpose first.
  • The companies are invented. Kestrel Ridge, Larkspur and Brightwater do not exist. Their numbers were made up to exercise the mechanics, which are not.
